NEW PATIENTS
At your first appointment
Consultation
Your initial visit with Wendy Shi may include a pulse diagnosis, tongue diagnosis, iris diagnosis, and palpatations if needed. Wendy will discuss your lifestyle, past and present health history, and treatment goals with you.
Initial Treatment
Time-permitting, you will receive a short treatment following your consultation. This treatment is typically mild and serves both as an introduction to acupuncture and an indication of how acupuncture treatment works with your body.
Series of Treatments
After your new patient consultation, you will begin a series of treatments for Wendy to help regulate your body and analyze its response to each treatment. This first series of treatments is crucial to understanding your body's response to acupuncture and determining your treatment plan going forward.
How to get the most out of your treatments
Commit to the process. Acupuncture is not a quick cure-all; it’s a process. It is very rare for any acupuncturist to be able to resolve a problem with just one treatment. We recommend that you commit to coming in for your treatments consistently according to your treatment plan.
To help ensure a successful appointment please:
-
For your first appointment, arrive for your appointment 10 minutes in advance to fill out a new patient intake form. New Patient Treatments typically take 1 hour start to finish, though we recommend leaving yourself 15 minutes post appointment for any extra time needed. Follow up visits usually require 45 minutes.
-
Please wear comfortable loose fitting clothing that you can roll up past your knees and elbows.
-
Eat before you come to your appointment. Acupuncture is not recommended on an empty stomach.
